An English Harquebusiers Breastplate

An English Harquebusiers Breastplate, With raised neck and medial ridge terminating in a point at the waist, which dips down to the centre and has a narrow flange. The neck and arms edges have plain inward turns. At either side of the chest are mushroom headed studs for fastening the shoulder straps.

Stamped at the neck, ‘AT’ as yet unidentified, although there are numerous examples recorded in the Royal Armouries collection, (see page 82 of The London Armourers of the 17th C).
