A Regimentally Marked Heavy Dragoon Pistol
Of regulation specification, with round barrel stamped with two ordnance marks, plain tang stamped with crown, rounded lock with single line border engraving with crowned ‘GR’ ordnance mark under pan and ’TOWER’ across the tail, full stocked in walnut, stamped with numerous ordnance marks, brass furniture comprising side-plate, ram-rod pipes and trigger guard, marked ‘3 = Ds H / 2L’.
In July 1809, the regiment departed for the Netherlands and took part in the disastrous Walcheren Campaign. Many of the men caught a disease called, "Walcheren Feverâ€, thought to be a combination of malaria and typhus, before returning home in September.
