A Rare Cased Pair of J. Manton & Son Percussion Pocket Pistols. With round re-blued turn-off barrels, decorated with geometric bands at the muzzles and line engraved at the breech ends, stamped beneath with Birmingham proofs, engraved box-lock actions, signed ‘Jno MANTON & SON LONDON’ to the left side, and decorated overall with scrolling foliage, hidden drop-down triggers, sliding safety catches and dolphin head engraved hammers, finely chequered bag-shaped butts with vacant silver escutcheons, scroll engraved silver butt-caps: in their original mahogany case (re-lined in green cloth) with accessories including bullet mould, turn screw and powder flask.

Mrs Gildon Mantonn with Charles Coe (Sometimes shown as John Manton Son. & Coe or John Manton & Co.), 1856-67. Mrs Manton lived at 4 South St., Grosvenor Sq. and the firm is sometimes recorded at that address. Charles Coe from 1867; in liquidation, 1878. Granted Regd.
