A Pair of Officers Pistols by Ross of Edinburgh. With sighted octagonal barrels, signed in Gothic script along the top-flat, case-hardened breech blocks decorated with foliate scrolls, platinum lines and with pierced platinum plugs, profusely engraved tangs fitted with standing rear-sights, border engraved locks profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and fitted with sliding safety, cocks decorated en suite, half-stocked in walnut, cut with chequering at the grip, with silver fore-end caps, engraved silver escutcheons and engraved silver butt-caps, blued steel mounts, comprising spurred trigger guards, decorated with scrolling foliage on the bows and stylised pineapple finials, turned ramrod pipes with original brass tipped ramrods.
