A Naval 1856 Pattern Pioneer’s Saw Back Sword

An 1856 Pattern Pioneer’s Saw Back Sword. With single edged blade with saw-back, regulation brass hilt, blade stamped with Ordnance marks. The scabbard stamped with an ’N’ to indicate it was for Naval use.

This is a rare exmaple issued to the Navy for use as a cutlass in 1888.
