A Good Cased Pair of Percussion Belt Pistols by Brown & Rodda. With browned sighted barrels, decorated with geometric bands at the muzzles, signed in full along the top-flats, ‘BROWN & RODDA TITCHBORNE ST LONDON’ fitted with rear sight towards the breech, colour casehardened breech plugs decorated with scrolling foliage, profusely engraved tangs, border engraved locks, decorated overall with scrolling foliage and signed BROWN & RODDA, full-stocked in walnut cut with micro chequering at the grips, blued engraved steel mounts comprising spurred trigger guards, fitted with captive ramrods and side-mounted belt hooks. Both in good clean order retaining a large amount of original finish: in their original lined and fitted case with all accessories including unusual ovoidal Dixon & Sons powder flask, oil bottle, bullet mould, etc, the interior of the lid with Brown & Rodda trade label, the exterior of the lid with small round brass escutcheon. `fitted with captive ramrods.

Gunmaker, 36 Piccadilly, 1846-7. Guns also marked Titchborne St. R.B. Rodda moved to Calcutta, but maintained a factory in Birmingham in the 1860s. Became Gunmaker to Viceroy & Governor General of India.
