With broad sharply tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, recessed ricasso struck on each face with a bladesmith’s mark with incised line borders, iron hilt retaining a large amount of original blueing and comprising asymmetrical guard of flattened bars comprising two other side-rings linked to the knuckle-guard by a curved bar above, inner-guard of three slender bars of rounded section swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, downcurved rear quillon with lobed terminal, flattened barrel-shaped pommel with button finial, and original wooden grip fluted along each side and bound with twisted iron wire
