A Combed Morion

A Combed Morion, 16th Century. Formed in one piece with a hemispherical crown rising to a high roped medial comb, with an integral brim turned down at each side, rising to an obtuse point at the front and rear, decorated around its edges with a file-roped inward turn, the base of the crown is encircled by round-headed lining rivets, old repair to the peak. (cheek pieces are a later addition, possibly 19th Century).
