A 32 Bore Percussion Saw Handled Pistol by William Powell & Son. With three-stage octagonal to round re-blued barrel, stamped at the breech with Birmingham proofs and engraved ‘WILLIAM POWELL & SON’ fitted below with a captive ramrod, foliate engraved tutaneg box-lock action, with lions head pommel, re-blued steel hammer decorated en suite, foliate engraved spurred trigger guard. A scarce and unusual pistol.

General gunsmith in Birmingham. Name changed to William Powell & Son 1845 to 1880. Made double barrel, over and under, percussion pistols with belt hooks and swivel ramrods. Later double barrel pin-fire sporting guns.
