An Outstanding Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol by Wilson. With round two-stage barrel, belled at the muzzle, stamped with London proofs and Wilsons own barrel smith mark, signed in script along the top, ‘Wilson Minories London’ decorated with a band of geometric designs at the breech, profusely engraved barrel tang, border engraved lock, signed in script, decorated with foliage, with sliding safety catch, the cock decorated en suite, full-stocked in walnut with raised moulding around the tang, with brass furniture throughout, comprising scrolling side-plate, engraved long-eared butt-cap with grotesque mask, trigger guard engraved with a flower-head on the bow, with acorn finial, turned ramrod pipes. In excellent condition throughout.

Contractor to Ordnance from 1746; East India Co., 1733-6; Hudson Bay Co., 1739. With son, William, became Richard & William Wilson & Co., 1757-9; Richard Wilson & Co., 1759-66. Died 1766.
