ID: 5681

An Incredibly Scarce Half Engraved Remington Rider Magazine Pistol. Octagonal to round barrel, stamped with standard two line address, frame engraved with scrolling foliage and back strap decorated en suite, highly figured walnut grips.

Retaining all of the original nickel plating, the hammer and breech retain most of their original blue, grips are excellent, mechanically fine.

An estimate 15,000 or less of these small pocket pistols were manufactured in the 1870s and 1880s based on designs by Joseph Rider. The pistol was clearly influenced by the popular Winchester rifles of the period and their predecessors and are among the earlier magazine fed pocket pistols. The pistol takes up basically the same amount of pocket space as Remington's famous double derringer but allowed for five shots instead of two.
