An Excellent Sharps Model 4 Barrel Pepperbox Derringer. With blued barrel block fitted with blade fore-sight, and frame notch rear-sight. The right side of the frame is marked "C. SHARPS PATENT/JAN. 25, 1859", and the matching serial number is marked on the frame under the grip and on the bottom of the barrels. Blue barrels, silver frame, casehardened hammer and blued trigger. Fitted with smooth walnut grips.
The barrels retain 95%% of original blued finish, some wear on right side muzzle and upper barrel, the frame retaining similar amount of silver plating which has tarnished with age, hammer retains original case colours, grips are very fine with most original finish. Mechanically fine.
Manufactured between 1859 and 1874. Sharps manufactured approximately 9,000 Model 4B pepperbox pistols.
