An Ensemble of Rigby Police Flintlocks
Exceptional opportunity to acquire Rigby sequentially registered Police flintlock carbines and pistols circa 1823. The two carbines and two pistols are all 16 bore and have 22 inch and 9 inch barrels. The locks have waterproof pans and roller bearing frizens and are marked W & J Rigby. The carbines have captive ramrods and are capable of accepting a bayonet. (The Pistol marked L-Y 9292 does not hold on full cock).
What makes this group special is that as part of the Irish 1843 Registration Act these 4 guns were registered sequentially from "L-Y 9289†through "L-Y 9292†for Londonderry (Derry), marked on the flat ribs and on the butt plate tangs.
