A U.S. Model 1855 Maynard-Primed Springfield Rifled Percussion Musket, dated 1857. With round sighted barrel retained by three barrel bands, with adjustable rear sight graduated to 800 yards, plain steel tang, lock marked ‘U.S. SPRINGFIELD’ with eagle on primer cover and 1857 on the tail, full-stocked in walnut (some cracks and dings commensurate with age) with iron furniture comprising butt cap stamped ‘US’, plain trigger guard and brass fore-end cap, with original bayonet and an associated leather sling.
