A Good Pair of Percussion Belt Pistols by Lang. With sighted octagonal barrels, signed ‘LANG. HAYMARKET. LONDON’ decorated with geometric bands at the muzzles and breech, foliate engraved, case-hardened breech blocks, profusely engraved box-lock actions, fitted with side-hammers (one a working life replacement) and sliding safety catches, chequered walnut butts with hinged butt traps, foliate engraved trigger guards, fitted with blued belt clips to the side and stamped with London proofs.

Joseph Gunmaker (opened as Gun & Pistol Repository from Wilson’s Warehouse, Vigo Lane) 7 Haymarket, 1925-52 (Shooting Gallery adjoining from 1827) 22 Cockspur St., Charing Cross, 1853-74. Became Joseph Lang & Sons, eventually amalgamating with Stephen Grant, Exhibited 4 and 6 barrel revolvers, Great Exhibition, 1851. Popularised the pin-fire breechloader. Died 1869.
