A Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword, 18th Century. With earlier tapering double-edged blade retaining traces of incised letters within the fuller and with remains of running wolf mark on each side at the forte, iron guard of slender rectangular section bars framing fretted panels pierced with hearts and circles, the main panels centred on saltires, the side panels each with scalloped terminal, fore-guards, lightly fluted bun-shaped pommel with flattened button, and spirally-grooved leather-covered grip bound with a strand of twisted brass wire (old russet finish overall)
