A Scarce Pair of Flintlock Officers Pistols by Prosser. With rebrowned twist round sighted barrels, engraved, ‘CHARRING CROSS LONDON’ along the top-flats, fitted with gold-lined touch-holes, engraved steel tangs engraved with a Britannia shield and foliage and each fitted with standing rear-sight, signed border engraved flat bevelled locks each engraved with a starburst behind the semi-rainproof pan and with foliage on the stepped tail, engraved cocks, safety catches and rollers, figured full stocks with chequered ‘Catalan’ style butts, border engraved iron mounts comprising shaped heel-plates, engraved ‘Prosser 1804’ trigger guards each with pineapple finial and engraved Britannia shield and foliage on the bow, turned ramrod pipes with horn tipped ramrods (one with worm) retaining traces of original finish, in original lined and fitted oak case with some accessories including red leather lined flask, turnscrew and bullet mould, the interior of the lid with original maker’s trade label, signed by the original owner, ‘Christopher Philip Garrick Junrs Pistols’ the exterior with flush fitting brass carrying handle.
