A Scarce Documented Flintlock Pocket Pistol by Wogdon. With round turn-off barrel, numbered ‘1’ breech stamped with London proofs, border engraved box-lock action, signed ‘WOGDON’ on a foliate scroll to the left and ‘LONDON’ on a scroll to the right (rubbed) replacement cock, screw and flash guard (does not hold at full-cock) slab sided walnut butt, with flip down trigger. "This represents both the latest style of Wogdon pocket pistol and the cheapest version in terms of mechanical features, notably the externally mounted feather-spring and the spring-trigger, the latter being the only example recorded so far”.

With John Barton traded as Wogdon & Barton, from 1795, succeeded by Barton, 1803. Famous for duelling pistols. Poem, Stanzas on Duelling, by an Irish Volunteer, 1783, began, ‘Hail Wogden, Patron of that Leaden death’.
