A George IV 1796 Pattern Cavalry Sabre For A Boy

A rare and possibly unique George IV 1796 miniature sabre for a boy, the slightly curved pipe back blade made in the style of the 1821 pattern faintly etched with foliage, now worn, signed Odell 72 Burlington Arcade, London.

Steel stirrup hilt with shagreen covered wooden grip, bound with triple twisted silver wire in its original steel scabbard with two suspension rings.

The sabre was most likely a bespoke commission for a young Officer of the Yeomanry Cavalry and is of very high quality.

Circa 1825.
