An 18-Bore Flintlock Overcoat Pistol by W. Parker, London. With browned sighted octagonal barrel, engraved, ‘W. PARKER MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY HOLBORN LONDON’ along the top-flat, profusely engraved tang incorporating rear-sight, stepped bevelled lock, signed ‘W, PARKER’ and decorated with foliage and star-bursts, fitted with sliding safety catch, cock decorated en suite, full-stocked in walnut, cut with a band of fine chequering at the grip, vacant rectangular escutcheon, trigger guard engraved with game birds and with pineapple finial, steel ramrod pipes, with horn tipped ramrod and concealed worm.

Gunmaker, worked at 233 High Holborn, 1793-1841; 10 Chamber Street 1839 - 41. Gunmaker to the Duke of Kent, Prince Edward and William IV. He held contracts to ordnance, East India Company and The Hudson's Bay Company. Supplied arms to the London Police from 1803 and Metropolitan Police from 1829. Died aged 68 in 1841. Succeeded by Park Field and Sons.
