With slightly swamped rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrel signed along the top flat and stamped TWISTED on the bottom flat, case-hardened breech with platinum line and platinum-lined touch-hole, border engraved tang decorated with foliage and with back-sight, signed case-hardened border engraved flat bevelled detented lock decorated with foliage at the stepped tail, 'French' cock en suite, engraved safety-catch, rainproof pan and roller, figured half-stock with characteristic spur, flat along the top and with chequered rounded butt, dark horn fore-end cap, blued steel trigger-guard with pineapple finial and engraved with foliage on the bow, the latter with engraved spur secured by two screws, adjustable set trigger, vacant silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, original brass-mounted ramrod, and much of its original finish, private Birmingham proof marks
