A Cased Pair of D.Egg Flintlock Pocket Pistols. With round turn-off barrels engraved with foliate bands at the rear and stamped underneath with London proofs, both singed beneath the pans and engraved with characteristic branch on each side, border engraved actions, sliding thumb-piece safety catches also locking the steels, ring-necked cocks with a serpent engraved on both sides (top jaws and screws missing) folding triggers, flat sided walnut butt: in an associated box, accompanied with an old photo showing the pistols.
Notes:
A pair for the restorer! Fine quality pistols in need of work. One action functional, the other needs work. Barrels are frozen. Top jaws and screws need replacing and one frizen will also need replacing. Although they remain in untouched condition these pistols could be brought back to life.

Son of Leonz Egg, gunmaker, Switzerland. Born 1748, baptised Urs Christian. After a short stay in Paris, came to London and worked for John Twigg, 1772. Granted denization in 1791. Gunmaker & Sword Cutler. Became gunmaker to George IV & Duke of York. Renowned for his fine workmanship.
