A Beautifully Engraved Cannon Barrelled Pistol by Smith of Bath. With three-stage turn-off cannon barrel, stamped beneath the breech with London proof, profusely engraved box-lock action, chased with scrolling foliage and signed ‘W SMITH’ on a scroll to the right and decorated with scrolling foliage and an urn and signed on a scroll, ‘BATH’ to the left, the pan lined in gold and with an unusual sliding safety fitted below. Slab sided walnut but inlaid with a silver wire border. A fine pocket pistol.
