A Superb Basket Hilted Cavalry Broadsword, Late 18th Century. With broad, tapering double-edged blade, cut with three central fullers running almost the entire length of the blade and engraved with the makers name in the central fuller, ‘DONALD CURRIE’ with iron basket guard of flattened bars joined by centralised horizontal bars, with an oval aperture for reins, small down curving wrist guard, pyramidal pommel with button, and grip bound with wire (some splits). Sharpened for combat.
