An Untouched Pair of Pistols by Staudenmayer
An Untouched Pair of Flintlock Overcoat Pistols by Staudenmayer, No. 1289 for 1811. With octagonal sighted barrels, case-hardened breeches inlaid with two platinum lines, platinum lined touch-holes and oval platinum poincons stamped ’STAUDENMAYER LONDON’ profusely engraved tangs fitted with standing rear-sights, stepped bevelled locks, fitted with sliding safety catches, signed beneath the pans and decorated with scrolling foliage at the tails, cocks decorated en suite, full-stocked in walnut and cut with chequering at the grips, horn fore-end caps, steel border engraved trigger guards, decorated with stands of arms on the bows and detailed pineapple finials (retaining traces of blues) turned ramrod pipes and horn-tipped ramrods, one with concealed worm: in there original lined and fitted case with some accessories including, powder flask, bullet mould, loading rod and key to the case.
Notes: These pistols are completely untouched and could benefit from a gentle clean, possibly browning of the barrels. There is original colour on the locks and original brown on the barrels. I don’t think the photographs do justice to how crisp the engraving is. I think they have been left, sleeping in their box for years.
