An E.I.C. Percussion Pistol

An E.I.C. Percussion Cavalry Pistol with ‘Old Series Sidelock’, 1840. Of regulation specifications. With round barrel stamped with Birmingham proofs at the breech, plain tang, bevelled lock stamped with the Rampant Lion and inspection mark, full-stocked in walnut, stamped with stockers mark, regulation brass mounts comprising side-plate, butt cap with lanyard loop, trigger guard and fore-end cap, with captive ramrod.

Notes:
Inspectors marks are for Birmingham with date code “Q” (looks like a 2) for 1850-52 but continued in use to 1856.
Probably for Indian Irregular cavalry in 1850’s. And made in Birmingham rather than London as the later had reduced/stopped production by this time for EIC.
Ex. Bonham’s.
