A Flintlock Officers Musket by Parr. With browned sighted octagonal to round barrel, fitted with a bayonet lug at the at the muzzle, stamped with Birmingham proofs towards the breech, border engraved tang cut with sighting groove, border engraved stepped, bevelled lock, signed, ‘PARR’ full stocked in walnut, with raised mouldings around the tang and lock, engraved brass furniture comprising butt plate decorated with a stand of arms on the tail, trigger guard decorated with a flower head on the bow and acorn finial, solid side-plate decorated with a stand of arms, and turned ramrod pipes, with original steel ramrod. In good clean order.
Gunmaker, Liverpool, 1795-1820. Marked guns ‘London’. Earlier guns signed ‘I. Parr’ without ‘London’, are probably John Parr, Liverpool.
