A Named Sword

A Regimental Rifle Officers Sword of the Gloucester Rifle Volunteers. With straight single edged blade, cut with a long deep fuller along the back edge, double edged towards the point, etched with scrolling foliage a crowned royal cypher and regimental marks; ‘1st Gloucester sh Rifles’ and a coat of arms near the hilt with the motto beneath; ‘SEMPER VIRTUTE CONSTANS’ (always power constant) regulation steel gothic hilt incorporating a slung bugle horn, wire bound fish skin grip, in its steel scabbard with two suspension rings.
